Overview

This is the most-booked Tulum tour on the site, and it works because it does more than the ruins. The morning is built around a guided walk through the walled city — El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes and the clifftop plazas — while it's still cool, before the heat and the crowds build. A bilingual guide handles the history and the pace, so you're not deciphering a map in the sun.

After the ruins, the day turns to water: a swim in a freshwater cenote, snorkelling in the calm, shallow Yal-ku Lagoon where fresh water meets the Caribbean, and time at a beach club with lunch. It's a full Riviera Maya day in a single booking — archaeology in the morning, cooling off in the afternoon.

Almost everything is included: the guide, round-trip hotel transport from Cancún and the Riviera Maya, snorkel gear and life jackets, on-board snacks and water, the cenote and lagoon admissions, lunch and gratuities. The one thing you pay separately is the Tulum site entrance, about US$35 in cash at the gate.

It suits first-time visitors, couples and families who want to see the ruins without spending the whole day on stone — the mix of history and swimming keeps a range of ages happy. The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off from Cancún and along the Riviera Maya; you'll be given a pickup window when you book. It runs about 6.5 hours door to door, with a small group capped at 16 travellers.
